UNGA 81 Hon. Ditoka Meets The Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Republic of Serbia

Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Sakiasi Ditoka, met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Mr Marko Đjuric, on the margins of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Ministers reaffirmed the friendly relations between Fiji and Serbia and discussed opportunities to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, including in education and scholarships, digital transformation and the application of Artificial Intelligence, as well as collaboration in multilateral fora.

Minister Đjuric also extended an invitation to Fiji to participate in EXPO 2027 Belgrade, a global event bringing together countries from around the world to showcase innovative solutions, technologies and ideas addressing contemporary global challenges.

Minister Ditoka highlighted the upcoming UNFCCC Pre-COP31, co-hosted by Australia, Fiji and Tuvalu, and underscored the importance of engaging all partners in advancing ambitious climate action and meaningful commitments.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest and maintain dialogue at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
