CLARIFICATION ON FAKE NEWS ABOUT THE PALM SCHEME

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade wishes to advise the public that recent social media reports regarding the alleged suspension of the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme are false.

The post claiming that the Australian Prime Minister, Hon. Anthony Albanese, has warned that the PALM Scheme would be suspended due to crimes committed by Fijians is fabricated and misleading.

As verified with the Australian authorities, no such statement has been issued by the Australian Government.

The Ministry reassures PALM workers and stakeholders that the partnership with the Australian Government under the PALM Scheme remains strong and continues as normal.

The Ministry urges social media users to refrain from sharing or engaging with such false information and to check with the Ministry for accurate updates regarding this matter.
