The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Raijeli Taga met with Lord Privy Seal and Secretary Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Tonga, Viliami Malolo, reaffirming Fiji and Tonga’s commitment to deepen bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
The meeting convened at the margins of the 55th Committee of Representatives of Governments and Administrations (CRGA55) and 14th Conference of the Pacific Community, last week in Nukuʻalofa, the Kingdom of Tonga, underscored the warm friendship and historical ties that unites the two nations as Pacific Vuvale.
The discussions focused on the way forward to strengthen regional partnership and bilateral cooperation, exploring opportunities in key priority areas such as trade, investment and security.
His Lordship Mr Malolo reinforced Tonga’s commitment to further advance cooperation with Fiji through continued dialogue and highlighted several opportunities to elevate the bilateral relationship.
Fiji and Tonga continue to share enduring relations which has been further deepened through the historic State Visit by Their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipauʻu of Tonga to Fiji in July this year – marking a new chapter in the friendship and cooperation between our two nations and its peoples.
