Prime Minister Rabuka addresses PSIDS – reaffirms Regional Solidarity

The Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Lenora Qereqeretabua today welcomed the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Damjan Jović and the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, Ambassador Rade Stefanovic at the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Suva.
The meeting was an avenue to discuss opportunities to strengthen bilateral and multilateral engagements between the two nations.
Hon. Qereqeretabua in her remarks acknowledged Serbia’s interest to further advance the mutual collaboration with Fiji through dialogue.
The Assistant Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to work collaboratively with the Embassy of the Republic Serbia in the Commonwealth of Australia, to further strengthen the relations.
Hon. Qereqeretabua also noted the opportunities for potential cooperation in areas such as: renewable energy, sports diplomacy, educational scholarships and Information Technology (IT).
Mr Jović in his response expressed optimism that collaboration between the two nations will continue to deepen in the years ahead. He stated that the deliberations undertaken during his visit to Fiji this week will pave the way forward in building stronger cooperation.
Fiji and Serbia will next year mark the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations which was established in 1976.
