
Fiji attends the historical signing ceremony of the joint declaration between the commonwealth and United Nations Office for outer space affairs

The 23rd Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Leaders Pre-Summit Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) convened this morning at the Bose Levu Vakaturanga (BLV) Talanoa Lounge in Suva.
The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Dr Raijeli Taga is representing Fiji at the 2-day SOM, which will conclude tomorrow.
With the theme, “A Peaceful and Prosperous Melanesia”, the 23rd MSG Leader’s Summit will culminate in the traditional handover of chairmanship of the sub-regional organization to Fiji by Vanuatu on Monday 23rd June 2025.
At the Summit, the Leaders will deliberate on issues brought before it by the preceding Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) and Foreign Minister’s Meeting (FMM) respectively. The dialogue will focus on deepening partnerships for building economic prosperity, social equality and inclusivity and sustainable development with emphasis on key areas such as economy and trade, security cooperation, climate change and environment, culture and art.
The MSG is a regional bloc comprising membership of Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and the Kanak and Socialist National Liberation Front of New Caledonia.
