The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) jointly convened an awareness session on the diplomatic clearances and Value Added Tax (VAT) Refunds for the Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations based in Suva.
The awareness session, held at FRCS headquarters in Suva, was attended by 60 representatives of the diplomatic corps in Fiji, together with the senior officials from FRCS and MFA.
While officiating the program, the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Kiti Temo highlighted the importance of such consultative dialogue to engage closely with the diplomatic corps to share vital information and insights on ways to further enhance the coordination on relevant diplomatic requirements managed by FRCS and MFA.
The session enabled the attendees to attain a clearer understanding of the diplomatic laws and requirements in place and work together to improve the efficiency of the services that FRCS and MFA are obligated to deliver, respectively.
Mr. Udit Singh, CEO of FRCS, highlighted that the awareness session was designed to cultivate a productive and collaborative relationship among the diplomatic corps in Fiji, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), and FRCS. Mr. Singh emphasized the importance of such collaborations in facilitating effective communication, gathering valuable feedback, and implementing business process improvements.
“These efforts aim to enhance the customer experience and build a trusted partnership with our clients and partners, including the diplomatic corps and the MFA,” he added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked FRCS for its tremendous support in undertaking this timely initiative which demonstrates the strength of our enduring partnership and shared commitment to excel in service delivery and assistance we provide to the diplomatic corps in Fiji and beyond. The Ministry aims to further build on such collaborative initiatives focused on promoting efficient diplomatic services and advancement of Fiji’s foreign policy goals on sovereignty, security, and prosperity.
The Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations extended their kind appreciation to MFA and FRCS for initiating this opportunity to connect and build stronger relationships.
In her closing remarks, Senior Manager- Customer Engagement at FRCS, Ms Fiona Walli said that the feedback received will enable FRCS to strengthen partnership and further enhance its delivery service.
Ms Walli affirmed FRCS’s commitment to work closely with MFA and other stakeholders on many more collaboration and open dialogue in the future to optimize opportunities ahead. She also expressed her gratitude to the representatives of the diplomatic corps for their participation in the awareness session, and to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its timely support and dedication in making this joint initiative a success.
