The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Sakiasi Ditoka welcomed the Solomon Islands Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Rick Houenipwela, during the courtesy meeting on Thursday (06.08.2026) at the Ministry’s headquarters in Suva.
Minister Ditoka welcomed Minister Houenipwela and his delegation, underscoring Fiji’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Solomon Islands in advancing shared Pacific priorities and promoting a secure, resilient, and prosperous Blue Pacific region.
Minister Houenipwela expressed his appreciation for Fiji’s warm hospitality and acknowledged Fiji’s leadership on regional issues. He reaffirmed the Solomon Islands Government’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Fiji in areas of mutual interest, including trade facilitation, capacity building, and regional security.
The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and strong bilateral partnership between Fiji and Solomon Islands. Both Ministers reiterated their commitment to maintaining close dialogue and enhancing bilateral cooperation through the Pacific Islands Forum and other regional mechanisms.
They also looked forward to continued engagement in the lead-up to the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting to be held in Palau and Pre-COP Meeting in Nadi.
