The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Sakiasi Ditoka, today welcomed the Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council of Tasmania and Member of the Parliament of Tasmania, Honourable Tania Rattray, during a courtesy visit at the Parliament Government Chambers in Suva.
Minister Ditoka noted that the visit provided a timely opportunity to translate the momentum generated at the national level into practical partnerships between Tasmania and Fiji’s provinces, municipalities, institutions, and private sector, further broadening the scope of the Vuvale Partnership.
Discussions explored opportunities to expand collaboration between Fiji and Tasmania in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, sustainable tourism, renewable energy, agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, marine science, education, technical and vocational training, research, and workforce development.
Minister Ditoka further highlighted Fiji’s ongoing economic reforms aimed at enhancing the national investment environment, strengthening private sector participation, and facilitating trade, creating new opportunities for Tasmanian businesses and institutions to partner with Fiji in support of sustainable economic growth.
Both sides acknowledged the importance of strengthening business-to-business partnerships and fostering greater commercial engagement to unlock new investment opportunities and deepen two-way trade.
In conclusion, Minister Ditoka thanked Honourable Rattray for her visit and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to further strengthening its partnership with Tasmania as part of the broader Fiji–Australia Vuvale Union, delivering lasting benefits and shared prosperity for the people of both Fiji and Australia.
