The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade farewelled Fiji’s Ambassador-Designate to the Republic of Indonesia, Ratu Isoa Delamisi Tikoca, marking the return to diplomatic service of a highly experienced public servant, diplomat and military officer with extensive experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy and strategic leadership.
Speaking at the occasion, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, extended the Ministry’s warmest wishes to both diplomats and reminded them that their postings carried great responsibility, trust, and expectation that they would represent Fiji with professionalism, discipline, and integrity.
He highlighted Indonesia’s importance as a key partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and broader Indo-Pacific, and underscored Geneva’s significance as a global multilateral centre whose decisions directly affect the livelihoods of Fijian people.
Expressing similar sentiments, Permanent Secretary Dr. Raijeli Taga acknowledged Ratu Tikoca’s exceptional dedication in preparing for his diplomatic role and his exemplary service to the nation. She encouraged both diplomats to uphold Fiji’s values with standards and wished them well in their tenure.
In his remarks, Ratu Tikoca acknowledged the work of his predecessors and reaffirmed his commitment to serve with highest level of integrity and professionalism. He described diplomatic service as a calling, one that few are chosen to fulfil, and pledged to further expand bilateral relations between Fiji and Indonesia, with focus on increasing exports of niche products, boosting tourism, and fostering investment in green technology and agriculture.
Further, Ratu Tikoca described the Melanesian heritage as an important element that brings Fiji-Indonesia closer through mutual cooperation, unity, and partnership. Ratu Isoa brings extensive international experience in peacekeeping, having served with the Republic of Fiji Military Force (RFMF) and later under the United Nations (UN) in Rwanda and other conflict-affected areas. He is also served as Fiji’s former High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea.
Also farewelled was Mr. Sivaniolo Ratoto, who has been posted as Second Secretary at Permanent Mission of the Republic of Fiji to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva. In his role, Mr. Ratoto will support Fiji’s engagement with the wide range of international organisations headquartered in Geneva, including United Nations agencies, the World Trade Organization, and the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Prior to joining the Ministry as a Foreign Service Officer early last year, Mr. Ratoto served as an Associate Lawyer from 2019 to 2024. He likewise acknowledged the Ministry’s support and pledged to represent Fiji’s interests with professionalism and dedication.
The Ministry wishes both diplomats and their families every success in their new postings.
