The Roadmap for Democracy and Sustainable Socio-economic Development 2010-2014 set out Government strategic framework to achieve sustainable democracy, good and just governance, socio-economic development and national unity.

The priority for Government in the short term is on growing the economy while the medium term strategy primarily focuses on reforming Fiji's system of government particularly under a new constitution which will provide for an electoral system that treats all voters equally, a parliamentary system that provides fairer representation for the people and promotes national unity while respecting Fiji's cultural and religious diversity.

The following are Fiji’s strategic priorities for economic development in the short term, 2010-2012 for which ODA should be direct:

•    Maintaining Macroeconomic Stability
•    Increasing Investment
•    Increasing Exports and Food Security
•    Infrastructure Development
•    Land Reforms
•    Sugar Industry Reforms
•    Public Sector Reform
•    Improving social services particularly with regard to Health, Education, Poverty Alleviating and Housing Assistance.
