12th July 2012: South Africa is taking seriously the upcoming World Super Model Competition to be held at the Pearl Resort, Pacific Harbour in November. World Super Model Pageant South Africa has been meeting with our High Commission planning and assisting the South African effort to come to Fiji. The High Commission is seeing this as an excellent way to get some publicity on Fiji in South Africa.
The casting for the models to represent South Africa will be taken all over South Africa in the major cities. The planned casting will involve thousands of model hopefuls from across the length and breadth of the country. If it will be any close to other similar casting for other events, it will be huge.
This is the second year that the pageant will be in Fiji. South Africa did not take part last year. However being a fashion conscious country with a wide cross section of people and interest as well as an international reputation for producing top models they are coming in all seriousness.
As Fiji is still relatively unknown in South Africa, the High Commission is grabbing the opportunity for publicity all over the country. The casting will be aired live on television, radio and in the print media as well. The staff at the High Commission are giving their cooperation in this event and taking advantage of the opportunity for some wide publicity.
Ms Musa Chauke, a model herself, explained to High Commissioner, Mr Salacakau, that part of the plan is to see if South Africa can line up to host one of the future events.
