Mr. Amena Yauvoli

Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

Mr. Amena Yauvoli was appointed Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in January 2013. In his professional career Mr. Yauvoli has worked as Graduate Economist, Senior Economist, and Principal Economist with the Ministry of Finance & National Planning from July 1988 to July 1997.

In July 1997, Mr. Yauvoli was appointed Chief Economist at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade. He served as Deputy Permanent Representative/ Counsellor to the Fiji Mission to the United Nations, New York from September 2000 to October 2003 at which time Fiji was a member of the Economic Social Council (ECOSOC). Mr. Yauvoli then joined the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) as Senior Policy Adviser for Sustainable Development from January 2004 to December 2005.

In January 2006, Mr. Yauvoli was appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & External Trade. He was appointed as Permanent Secretary of Commerce, Industry, Investment & Communication in March 2007.

Before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as Permanent SecretarY, Mr. Yauvoli was the Manager/Director of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community North Pacific Regional Office, Kolonia, Pohnpei State, Federated States of Miconesia from February 2008 to December 2012.

Mr. Yauvoli is married to Ruci Yauvoli. They have four sons and one daughter.
