Mr Shaheen Ali

Deputy Secretary Economics & Trade

Mr.Shaheen Ali is a product of the University of the South Pacific, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Economics in 1996. He joined the Fiji civil service as a graduate trainee in 1997 and later was posted Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the same year.
In the year 2000, Mr. Ali completed his Master Degree in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University in Australia. In 2004, Mr. Ali was posted to India, to open Fiji’s first resident Mission in New Delhi. Upon his return in 2008, Mr. Ali assumed the Director (Economics & Trade) position and led Fiji through a series of trade negotiations, including the Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union. He was promoted to Deputy Secretary in 2009.
