Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is confident that the Melanesian Spearhead Group will continue to expand and be proactive in engaging with its development partners and international organisations to achieve tangible outcomes that will be of great benefit to the Melanesian community.
He made the comment at a dinner organised by the MSG Secretariat in Port Vila.
“I wish to take this opportunity to reiterate my assurances, that in my capacity as Chair, my focus will be on strengthening our organisation and enhancing its ability to respond to the development needs and aspirations of our peoples."
Prime Minister Bainimarama also acknowledged the presence and support of the Vanuatu Government for facilitating his visit.
“In our discussions with the MSG Secretariat we were informed of the strategic plans, programs and other important issues relating to the work of the Secretariat”.
“I was impressed with the high level of organization and effective leadership provided by the Director General and his Directors, which has enabled the achievement of key milestones in the areas of politics and security, trade, economics, social development and culture,” he said.
Since inception, our Secretariat has been steadfast in its efforts to achieve a number of key objectives as directed by the Leaders, Ministers and Senior Officials.
