Fiji's Foreign Minister, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola today met with a six member Delegation from the Northern Heavy Industries Group Company Limited from Shenyang, China led by Mr. Pang Junying, Director for Overseas Business Department.
The Chinese Delegation arrived in the country yesterday and called on to the Minister this morning to thank and acknowledge the Fiji Government's support in the successful registration of the company. The current visit is part of the series of fact finding and field inspection missions by the Chinese experts to assess the scope and detailed design of the proposed cement factory to be constructed in Sigatoka.
Ratu Inoke briefed the Delegation that Fiji is the hub of the Pacific and their business can easily expand both in the domestic and regional markets given the current boom in the respective construction industries in most countries in the region.
The members of the Chinese Delegation were amazed with Fiji's green and unspoilt environment and are looking forward to gather more information for the proposed cement factory. They also have made a commitment that they will try to contribute positively in Fiji's development and investment programs and also uphold the conservation and protection of the Fiji's eco system.
Ratu Inoke thanked the Delegation for their commitment and the confidence in trying to invest in Fiji as this will build a strong foundation for the ever growing close bilateral relations and more exchanges between the two friendly nations.
