8th August 2012: Fiji’s Ambassador to Brazil Mr. Cama Tuiloma has had successful discussions with Brazilian Authorities on assistance to our Poultry and Beef Industry.
In recent meetings in Brasilia Ambassador Tuiloma has met with the following to discuss cooperation and assistance in developing a sustainable domestic poultry and beef industry in Fiji:
1. Brazilian Poultry Association(UBABEF)Markets Director, Mr. Ricardo Joao Santin, Markets Relations Coordinator, Ms. Marilia Rangel R. Martins and Markets Relations Manager, Mr. Adriano Nogueiro Zerbini, Ambassador Tuiloma; and
2. Executive Director Association of Beef Exporters (ABIEC), Mr. Fernando Sampaio.Brazil has expressed its readiness to cooperate with Fiji in both poultry and beef production in terms of quality, biosafety, sustainability, affordability and respect to consumers and also in generating employment and income.
Brazil is today the world’s largest exporter – supplying some 160 markets – and is the third largest producer of chicken meat after the US and China.The entire Brazilian production chain under UBABEF which was formed in 2010 and is a single entity, consolidated, representative, with sufficient power to represent all production links in Brazil and abroad – from the integrated producer to meat packers. The Brazilian Beef Export Industries Association (ABIEC) represents approximately 85% of Brazils international beef sales and is the chief private body to give support to national and international negotiations of the Brazilian beef industry.
